On 25th April 2015 Nepal was struck by a devistating earthquake that destroyed or rendured uninhabitable almost 70% of buildings, including schools, homes and hospitals.
After attending a leadership program that recently took me to Antarctica it made me realise I had to give something back, the unfortunate events in Nepal gave me somewhere to focus that energy. After contacting the large organisations like Red Cross and Oxfam it came clear to me there wasn't a quick way of getting out there without adding to an already heavy workload.
Yes I could have packed my bags and hopped on a flight to Kathmandu but then what? Knock on the door of a NGO and say 'im here' they then would need to 'process' me and so on, I didn't want to be a distraction.
So I came across an organisation GVN, Global Volunteer Network, they organise volunteers and assign them to the NGO's in country, providing them with a well motivated workforce, processed and ready to provide help on the projects at hand.
